Five for Friday…on a Saturday

I’m linking up with sweet Kacey over at Doodle Bugs Teaching for a little Five for Friday fun.  Except, today is Saturday and I’m a day late.  Story of my life :)  But I have a really GREAT reason….

1.  My sweet sister had a BABY!!!  My nephew is finally HERE!  And I am head over heels IN.LOVE.  He is precious.  Absolutely PERFECT.  She was induced on Wednesday and finally had him on Friday {my half birthday ;)}  I LOVE this kid!!!!!  God is SO good!!!!!

2.  Speaking of my half birthday, my sweet babies at school threw me a surprise half birthday party…cupcakes and everything.  But I wasn’t there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Of ALL the days for me to take off!!!!  I never miss!!!!  Dangit!!!  Those sweet babies!!!  We’ll celebrate on Monday for sure :)

3.  I took off on Friday for Landon’s field trip.  It was the first time for me to be “mommy” instead of “teacher” on a field trip and it was awesome!  Landon’s part of this awesome tuition based pre-k program in my district and part of their tuition supports monthly field trips.  He’s been begging me to go with him since the beginning of the year, but it’s hard to take off, y’know?!  This trip sounded like too much fun to miss and Landon was beyond THRILLED for me to be there.  It was pretty much amazing to be on the *other side* ;)

4.  Speaking of Landon, I had to snap a little pic of his writing on the wall this week :)  If y’all could’ve seen what his handwriting looked like at the beginning of the year, this would astound you :)  Bless his poor little left-handed soul.

5.  Since my kiddos will probably never have the chance to make a real snowman here in these parts, I decided we’d make one in the classroom…with butcher paper, of course.  We put him together, piece by piece, and then wrote a little how-to on building snowmen.  I wanted something fun for them to write on, so I made these little templates.  The kids couldn’t wait to take them home!

Head on over to Doodle Bugs to join in the fun!

  16. Your nephew is absolutely adorable! Since you were working with snowmen I thought I would share this link that I found on Pinterest. I haven't tried it yet but if you are in a place where your kids don't get a chance to actually form snowmen this might be fun for them. It's some sort of "dough" that resembles snow (without the cold) that can be formed into balls. http://www.modernparentsmessykids.com/2013/01/making-snowmen-inside.html

  18. Congratulations on both being an aunt and being able to be a mommy at the field trip. My daughter is in preschool this year and I have also taken a couple 1/2 days to be with her for parties and to watch them sing. It doesn't get much better than that! Adorable to snowmen writing! We have a ton of snow up here but it is SOOO cold we can't even enjoy it this week. Enjoy snuggling your adorable nephew!!
