Do y’all know my Texas sister, Mrs. Lemons?! Okay, so we’re not *technically* sisters, but we live in the same state so that means we’re thisclose. I’ve actually gotten to meet her in person and lemme tell ya…she’s a doll. And she’s also hosting a little “get to know you/me” linky party, so I thought it would be fun to play along & link up!
1. I am the oldest of 4 and I ADORE my siblings! Even though they all refer to me as the “black sheep” of the family :) Stinkers!!!
2. Mr. Spouse proposed to me in my classroom in front of all my friends and co-workers on our one-year dating anniversary back in 2003. He had me read a book and the very last page of the book was a letter he typed up & wrote to me. He had NO idea, but it was always my *dream* to be proposed to in my classroom!! That bench holds A LOT of special meaning to me!!!
3. I used to have a serious Mary Engelbreit obsession {as evidenced in the pictures above}. I made Mr. Spouse drive me to her big store in Missouri one year so that I could stock up on things for the classroom. Bless his heart. I have since given it ALL away!!!
4. I met these “sweet mommas” through blogging. After I had my first little man, I read these girls’ blogs and thought they were the most adorable little mommas. They ALL had boys and all of them were Landon’s age. Randomly, I met one of the girls at a little boutique downtown one day and we BOTH recognized each other from our blogs! She invited me to a playgroup playdate and the rest is history! These girls are some of my best friends and I couldn’t have survived “bringing up boys” without them! LOVE these girls!!!!
5. I’m absolutely TERRIFIED of frogs!!!!! Like, can’t breathe, hyperventilate, FREAK OUT scared. It’s not a healthy thing. Or normal. And that’s why God gave me boys. There’s NO doubt in my mind that those stinkers will bring one to me or beg me to keep one as a pet at some point in their lives. I’m *trying* to train them to stay away from those little 4-legged amphibians, but I’m pretty sure Mr. Spouse is training them otherwise :)
6. I read magazines from the back to the front. All the good stuff is at the back anyway, right?!
7. I am absolutely, head over heels, in movie star love with Jack Nicholson. I’ve loved him for as long as I can remember!!! Oh.my.
8. If there were only one song I could listen to for the rest of my life, hands down, it would be “Sittin’ on the Dock of the Bay”. Me loves.
9. Every time The Negotiator comes on tv, I MUST watch. It’s not my favorite movie by a long shot, but I have to watch it when it’s on. It’s a sickness. This does not make Mr. Spouse very happy.
10. My FAVORITE time of the year is Halloween!!!!! I LOVE dressing up! This is me & Mr. Spouse as Ron Burgundy & Veronica Corningstone. We love us some Anchorman!!!
11. Speaking of Halloween, scary movies are my favorite!!! BUT…I can only watch them if I’m not alone…and if all the lights are on….and it’s daytime ;)
12. I know I shouldn’t believe in ghosts, but I do. I lived in a haunted house. I promise. My parents still live in the house, but they had it blessed and we haven’t had any experiences with the ghost since then!!! SCARY!!!!
13. I want to be BFF with Kristin Wiig…that girl makes me laugh like no other! HA!
Now it’s YOUR turn! Head on over to Amy’s blog to join in on all the fun!!!
hahahahaha I am CRACKING UP at your last picture with Kristin Wig. Too funny!!!!

Under the Alphabet Tree
It was great getting to know you some more! I love Kristen Wiig! I have watched Bridesmaids about 37 times already lol. I have a thing for scary movies too, but especially around Halloween. Before I had kids, my favorite thing would be to curl up on the couch & watch the Michael Myers Halloween movie marathon on AMC. :)

Is that the house you lived in growing up? It's HUGE! Maybe its just me, because I've never lived in a haunted house, but I think it would be super cool living in a haunted house!!
ReplyDeleteHi Cara! Your blog was one of the first I started following years ago and I just started my own blog a few weeks ago. I'd love it if you would stop on by and see my Tell Me More post :)

I too used to be obsessed with Mary Engelbreit. I used to have it in my classroom as well, but it all gone except for one poster my mom got me. I also had a HUGE collection of chair ornaments. I still have those! :) You are cracking me up putting yourself in that picture!

Hi Cara!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing! My fiance proposed to me in my classroom this past school year, at the beginning of December! Total surprise!! My lil first graders didn't know what to think. At first they were sad because they thought that he was going to take me away from them and I wouldn't be their teacher anymore, so they started saying good-bye! haha too cute! I had to explain that I was staying and would still be their teacher. Then, they started cheering and going bonkers and all control was lost... not that I really cared at the moment! haha Then, they quickly drew us a ton of pictures of us getting married and holding a baby!!! hahaha woah there kiddos! I had to write a letter to my parents and guardians explaining everything since I teach at a Catholic school and we can't have unwed mother rumors spreading haha! But all in all, such a special, memorable moment! I can totally relate! :)
Samantha
Love it! That is SO incredibly sweet that he proposed in your classroom... <3 Maybe I'll grab that dream for one day... :)
ReplyDeleteI'm a relative newbie in the world of blogging, but I'm looking forward to meeting some of the girls I've met one day... The fact that I live in Australia isn't a help though - just makes things tricky!
I read magazines from back to front too! There are so many ads in the front! Love the proposal!

MY HUSBAND brings home frogs and geckos and all other sorts of creatures all the time to show my kids! I guess living in South Florida, they need to get used to it, but I grew up in New York and that stuff freaks me out! Love this linky party,
