If You're Going to Read Something, Read THIS! {Crash Course}

If I'm being totally honest, I'm not much of a reader.  I mean, I LOVE to read.  I do.  But I don't have time to read very often.  I'd call myself more of a skimmer.

When summer rolls around, all bets are off.  I literally pore over books like it's nobody's business and try to fit a year's worth of reading into 2 months.   Especially on our road trips.  When you're sitting in a car for 13+ hours, you need a little something constructive to occupy your time :)

All that to be said, I did read ONE book during the school year.  One of the BEST books I've ever read.  And I'm not just saying that.

Heartfelt.

Inspiring.

AMAZING.

I started reading this at a time during the year when I was questioning EVERYTHING.

 Am I a good teacher?  Did I make the right career choice?  Am I even making a difference?  Would my talents be better utilized as a barista at Starbuck's?!?!?!

Seriously though.  You know what I'm talking about.  I think we've ALL had similar feelings at one point or another in our journey.  I mean, I know this is what God called me to do, but darn if I don't get frustrated and discouraged!

This book couldn't have come at a more perfect time.

I pored over it.

I took notes.

I HIGHLIGHTED, y'all.

The pages are wrinkled, dog-eared, and tear stained.

I took it with me EVERYWHERE.  I even took it with me to the Bahamas to read it a second time.

It was just what I needed to reaffirm what I already knew...

I am MEANT for this profession.  I LOVE teaching.  I AM making a difference.

But the book is MORE than just that.

It's MORE than just a "book for teachers".

It's a must read for ANYone looking for a little encouragement.

For anyone who loves to read and be uplifted and inspired.

I can't say enough about this book.

Right next to Jesus Calling, Crash Course is my new go-to gift.  I am seriously ECSTATIC about sharing this with my friends {both teachers and non-teachers alike :)}

I am definitely visiting the Ron Clark Academy this year {bucket list!!!!} and I can't wait to give Kim a hug and tell her "THANK YOU" for inspiring me to be a better ME!  I just ADORE her!!!!

Do yourself a favor and read it, too!!!!  You will NOT regret it!!

Wanna know more about Kim, her book and the Ron Clark Academy?!  Keep on reading!....

 Kim Bearden has a love for children unlike anything I have ever witnessed and has finally created a collection of all of her inspiring stories and compiled them into a book called Crash Course: The Lessons My Students Taught Me.

Seriously, y'all…it is a must read. It will without a doubt provide you with the inspiration that you need to make this one of your best years yet. Whether you are loving the profession and are looking for more ideas, or are questioning why you ever became a teacher in the first place (let's admit…we've all been there), this book will strengthen your passion for teaching and renew your energy to give your students the best YOU possible.

Along with inspirational stories, Kim also shares the ups and downs of both her personal and profession life. As an educator, you will be giving some verbal "amens" throughout the entire book. So many of her stories directly resonated with personal experiences in my life. It made me realize that everyone has their share of obstacles, but if we can dig deep and find the strength to empower ourselves as people and educators, we can achieve amazing things.

So grab some tissues, and pick up your copy of the book right here! You will definitely not be disappointed!

Kim Bearden is the co-founder and executive director at the Ron Clark Academy. Most importantly, she is also the language arts teacher.

Kim has received numerous awards for her creative, dynamic, and rigorous teaching styles. She was selected from over 70,000 nominations to be honored as the Disney American Teacher Awards Outstanding Middle School Humanities Teacher. Along with countless other awards, she was also chosen from among 7,000 teachers as Teacher of the Year in Cobb County Georgia.

Over the past twenty-three years, she has been a teacher, instructional lead teacher, curriculum director, school board member, staff development trainer, and middle school principal.

For someone that has accomplished so much during her career, Kim is by far one of the most humble and down to earth educators. Her life hasn't been perfect, and I love that she is so transparent in her book as she shares her experiences as an educator.

Instead of telling you, I will just show you! Here is a little clip that shows who and what the Ron Clark Academy is all about! The best part? You can actually come spend a day…or two…at the school! Be sure and follow the Ron Clark Academy on Facebook {HERE} to receive special updates and events!

If you would like to visit RCA and participate in the RCA Educator Training Experience, visit the website {HERE} to register! It is truly a training unlike anything you have ever experienced before. During this training, you will get to meet the students of RCA and observe Ron Clark and Kim Bearden's unparalleled instruction in their 5th grade classrooms. You will also spend the day in classroom observations and workshops that will enhance your instruction in any grade level. And of course, you will end the visitation becoming "slide certified."

  4. I'm so glad you posted. I've seen the book but didn't pick up it because I thought it wouldn't really be applicable to me as a first grade teacher.
