Happy new year, friends! It’s been a busy week! Isn’t the first week back from break…and every week thereafter…busy?! HA! We started the week talking about goals and resolutions. I told the kids my resolution was to be healthier this year {aka: lose about 10 lbs. of holiday weight. MERCY!} I had my kids make goals for themselves either at home or school. They LOVED this activity!! I used the lined paper from a new year template one of the teacher’s on my team gave to us. I found this super fun scrapbook paper and used that to make the hats, glued on a fun little pom pom, and busted out the Dollar Tree party blowers for some sass!
LOVE this quote!!!!
I’ll be back this weekend with more to share…symmetrical snowflakes, math games, and a little mini-unit for The Mitten complete with pics & downloads!
HAPPY {almost} FRIDAY!!!!!

ReplyDeleteI'm reading this way too early before I get ready for work, and it has just inspired me for the day! The people are sooo cute. I have a question though. Whenever I plan out an art activity, I stress myself out by preparing everything for the kids to cut out and it never turns out like I thought. All the kids on your door have different hair...do you let the kids make the hair on their own? Whenever I have my kids make people, they are nowhere near as cute as yours! What do you prepare for them? I just love this idea!
ReplyDeleteSo excited to see your posts this weekend :)
ReplyDeleteWow, I LOVE this! It came out so cute! Where do you get all of your cute art ideas?!?! I would have done a new years resolution paper but never would have thought to put them as hats and then on each child's head! Too cute!
ReplyDeleteLeslie Ann ~ I cut out the heads and glued the lined paper to the scrapbook paper to make the hats. The kids did everything else! I have a few really artsy little girls who came up with the idea to make their own hair and then they showed everyone else how to do it, too!
ReplyDeleteJenni ~ I can't remember where I originally saw this idea...I think on a Kindergarten website several years ago...but I've been doing this for a couple of years and love it!
You have the best ideas!! I'm so glad I came across your site. Last year I found Mrs. Jump's kindergarten which I looked at or should I say stalked constantly. I was so psyched when she made a real blog, that's how I found yours. Thanks for always sharing!!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! We did the EXACT same thing today in my K class. Except I didn't have the party blowers this year. Great site!
ReplyDeleteThis is so adorable! Our second grade teacher did this project and they also turned out awesome. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWOW!! Mrs. Carroll....I am so glad I found you through Holly's blog! I LOVE this idea so much.
ReplyDeleteI am your newest follower!
Thanks and Happy New Year!

Very cute! You are very creative! I am going to do something similar with my kids tomorrow! Thanks for all the great ideas!
ReplyDeleteMy second graders are loving making the faces and hats with their own hair. We will add the blowers next. We are putting our resolutions on a separate paper. Just love your ideas!
ReplyDeleteExcellent read, I just passed this onto a colleague who was doing a little research on that.
