Hello friends.
Are you still there?? I am. Barely.
We are knee deep in testing and assessments and that is consuming my life right now. 2 more days. TWO.MORE.DAYS.
We have 15...{ahem}...14!!! more days of school left. The countdown is on. It's been on. In fact, I'm pretty sure the kids abandoned their countdown because they're already acting like they're on summer break. Y'all know what I'm talkin' about.
I wish I had a fun update to share.
Something exciting.
Something interesting.
But I've got NOTHIN'.
Nada.
Zip.
Zilch.
But I will be back soon because we have SO much fun planned. If these kids of mine are going to act like they're already on vacay, then I'm going to make these last 14 days nothing but a bunch of FUN. Educational, yes...and lots and lots of FUN. We're goin' out with a bang, people.
So...stay tuned for our End of Year THEME DAYS!!!!! I am *thisexcited* about it. {You can't see me, but I've got my happy pants on and my excitement is through the roof ;)} I'll be returning with lots of fun ideas for ending your year with theme days. In fact, y'all might already do this. So if y'all do, holla at a sister and give me some ideas to add to my bank.
Here's what I'm working on...
* Bubbling With Excitement...Summer is Almost Here! {Bubble Day}
* It's the End of the Year and We're About to POP! {Popcorn Day}
* Aaaargh You Ready for First Grade? {Pirate Day}
* See ya, Kindergarten! It's Been Sweet! {Lemonade Day}
* Water We Still Doing Here? {Watermelon Day}
* Only a few S'More Days Left in Kindergarten! {S'More Day}
* I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Summer! {Ice Cream/Popsicle Day}
* Having a Sandsational Time in Kindergarten {Beach Day}
* Kindergarten is a Picnic {Picnic Day}
* Almost FREEdom!!! {Independence Day in May}
Our days will be filled with lots of math, science, and literacy activities and I'm seriously so excited to end the year this way. I know my kids will be, too!! Stay tuned!!!
Sounds like fun! Can't wait to see your pictures.
ReplyDeleteThose are awesome ideas! When I taught kindergarten (I teach first grade now), we had a beach day with clay sand sculptures, bubbles, and kiddie pools so the kids got to wear their swimsuits. They LOVED it! We also had a party to celebrate kiddos with summer birthdays too! Have fun :)

I wish I could incorporate all of these fun-filled theme days, but our district has a "wellness policy", so treats like s'mores, lemonade, and ice cream are O.U.T.:(…sadsville. Enjoy for all of us! And I will still look forward to how exactly these days go for you!!:)

Looks like you have a good list already! What if you did something with a "bright" theme for a day? My kiddos read in the dark with glow sticks today. It was their balloon end of school countdown surprise, and they had a blast.

A Rocky Top Teacher
Sounds like fun! How about a summer birthday party day? Or a balloon theme…place activities/brain breaks in the balloon and pop one each hour! Enjoy, Cara!!! Your students are blessed to have such a remarkable teacher like you.
ReplyDeleteI'm excited to see what you have planned! Sounds like tons of fun! :)

Cannot wait for your theme post!!! I am just plain out of ideas.... I finished grad school and got married at the end of April so my brain has stopped working and thinks it's summer. I am in desperate need of some inspiration for these last 14 days and your ideas sound too fun! Thank you for all you do! So excited to meet you at ITeach1st! :)

We are also doing a drive-in movie day where students decorate cardboard boxes like cars and sit with a pillow and blanket inside while we watch a movie and eat snacks! Love all of your ideas! Adding them to my list for next year. Thanks :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE these ideas! I like how they each can be used separately. I know a lot of people do the year-end ABC countdown review...but I just can't commit to that many days of themed activities with all of our field trips, testing and projects! Can't wait to hear more!!!
ReplyDeleteCara, your theme days sound lovely! I wish we could do s'more days and popcorn days. Unfortunately, like Amber, our school has a "no-snack" policy. :( There's a really cool song by Jack Hartmann called "Going on a Treasure Hunt" that would work really well with your pirate theme. I also have a pirate writing folder as part of my Warm Weather Writing Folders package on TPT if you want to take a look.

Sounds great! Can't wait to see the accompanying activities! Will they be on TpT?
ReplyDeleteUhm! I need these activity days like ....like....yesterday!! Cant wait to check it out!! We have 12 more days too!! Summer is coming SOON!
ReplyDeleteThanks!!
What an awesome idea! I do something fun every day for the month of May too, but mine are not nearly as creative as that!! I hope that you guys had a blast!!

ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing! You have such fun ideas! It's been a great year incorporating some of your ideas and using your centers. Next year I will add more:) I had a K/1 split so I used many of your ideas for both grades at different times. Can't wait to hear about your theme days! We have 8 more days, I may still have time to do some!
