I swore I was going to be better about blogging this summer, but as you can see, that just isn’t the case! After we got *almost* settled into the new house, we left for our 2 week family vacation up north. We drove. With 2 kids. For 20 hours. I don’t need to say anything else about that! Now we’re headed to Michigan for the rest of the week to celebrate the 4th with Mr. Spouse’s family. My family is housesitting for us, so I’m happy our new little home isn’t sitting all alone! To say we’ve been a *little* busy would be an understatment!! Here’s what we’ve been up to these last few days…
We celebrated Landon’s birthday. Little Mister is half a decade old!!! AND…for those of you wondering…we’re giving him the gift of time next year :) He’ll be going to Pre-K instead of Kindergarten because well…for those of you who’ve taught K…you know that young summer birthday boys can use all the time they can get! HA
I met up with my sweet friend, Abby, from The Inspired Apple. You may know her as “Babbling Abby” :) This is quickly becoming my favorite summer tradition! The Panera in Dayton, OH had NO clue what they were getting into when we walked in the door. We stayed for about 4 hours and could’ve easily stayed for another 4! And yes…it was NON-STOP talking the ENTIRE time!!!! Love this girl!
I recently got a CAMEO from the lovely people at Silhouette America and ohmiword…I AM SO EXCITED!!!! Since I got it a day before we left for our 2 week trek up north, I haven’t been able to use it. BUT…lemme’ tell ya. I’ve got BIG plans for it!!! I have several projects I can’t wait to start, so stay tuned!!! Most of them will be for the classroom and I can’t wait to show you! If you want to get started on your own CAMEO projects before the start of the school year, click on the link to get 20% off!!!!! http://www.silhouetteamerica.com/education/Yes, 20%!!!!!!! That’s an amazing discount!!!! And it’s for educators! Aren’t the guys at Silhouette America thoughtful?!?!?!
I’ve been working on several new units. I’m updating my Calendar Companion, so if you purchased that, be on the lookout. I’m adding a 120’s chart and printable posters for each section of the calendar…that was an AWESOME suggestion from on of you lovely ladies {wish I could remember who so I could give you credit!!!} I’m also going to include a Kinder friendly version as well!!
Here’s something I’ll be adding to the store when we get home from Michigan!
Okay…the car is pulling out and Mr. Spouse is yelling at me! Time to go!!! HAPPY 4th, friends!!!
Can't wait to see your new stuff and what you make with your new Cameo!
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for adjusting the 100's chart to 120!!!
Happy 4th!

Can't wait for the new update and unit. Bless you for giving your little one the gift of time. We did that for our son (July 29th B-day) and it was the best thing we ever did. When he got a little older he actually thanked me for doing it...so sweet. Now he is the one getting his driver's license first (yikes) and so much more mature than some of his young friends. Enjoy your summer.

Learning Is Something to Treasure
Does that mean the kinder version of the calendar will be part of the new update to your calendar companion that you already made? Not a new product? If so, that is awesome because I already have it and was modifying it a bit for my kinder kiddos, but now I can't wait to see what you added! :)
ReplyDeleteYour little boy is adorable!! Can't wait to check out your new back to school pack! :)

I can't wait to check out your new products!! You have easily been my biggest inspiration this past year! I'm sure if my students knew how to blog, they would be leaving you comment after comment thanking you for making me a "funner" teacher! I have learned so many new tricks, I didn't think it was fair to keep taking with giving. So I have FINALLY started my own blog and I would LOVE for you to check it out!!

Finally in First
Welcome to Michigan! Will you be near me in Troy, MI? There is great shopping here!! I hope your long car ride goes smoothly. Happy Birthday to your little darling!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't have survived my first year in first grade without your blog, thank you sooo much for all the inspiration this past year! One of my favorites was your Calendar Companion. Unfortunately, I'm moving to third grade next year, any possibility you could enhance that number of the day page for upper grades?
ReplyDeleteI'm a teacher here in Mississippi and have been followig your blog for awhile. I love your Christian values and great teacher ideas. Recently on one of your posts you said your family was on House Hunters. When is your show going to air? My husband and I are HGTV junkies!! LOL I used to live in Michigan for awhile so I know how long a ride you have, but I hope you enjoy the rest of your vacation. Amanda :-)
ReplyDeleteAs a P.S. where did you get that fabulous necklace?? I love it.
ReplyDeleteHave a great vacation! Is a Cameo similar to a Cricut?
ReplyDeleteWould love you to stop by my blog!

Hey Cara, thanks for updating the calendar companion..... that might have been my suggestion. I appreciate it! You have no idea how much easier this will make my routine! Also, like the other comment... I too could not have gone through first grade with out you. I was in K FOREVER and my move to 1st was horrific until I found your blog!
ReplyDeleteI got a Silhouette this past year and I love it! Can't wait to see what you use it for in your classroom!
