Sunday Funday & the OW/OU Kids

Does anyone else love Sunday as much as I do?!?!  I know I have to go to work tomorrow and all, but I LOVE Sundays.  We always sleep in and then head to the 11:00 service at church.  I’m always moved to tears at EVERY.SINGLE.SERVICE.  The boys love church just as much…if not more…than I do, so that definitely makes this little momma all kinds of happy.  After church, we always go to lunch.  Since my oldest has a bit of a picky palette, we typically head to our favorite little pizza place, Grimaldi’s.  SO yum.  Then it’s back home to lounge around and spend the day playing…or in my case, on & off napping :)  I LOVE Sundays and I love that we always spend them together as a family!!!!

We had another t-ball game yesterday.  We had a 6:30 a.m. wake up call for a game that started at 8.  Landon loved it.  My youngest?!  Notsomuch.   This is what he does when we’re out at the ballpark.  The WHOLE time.  Not a fan.

After a morning full of t-ball, we came home and met a guy about having our carpet replaced.  When Griffin was in his very last few months, he absolutely DESTROYED the carpets.  He was just too weak…and blind…to make it outside.  Anyway, we couldn’t be more excited to have it replaced.  Not to mention, we’ll be saying goodbye to the year old IRON BURN in our bedroom.  Let’s just say that automatic turn on irons and toddlers don’t go together.  Praise the Lord we only have a hole in the carpet to show for that!!!!

Mr. Spouse gave me the afternoon to myself, too.  Sort of.  He actually said I could run to Home Depot and pick  up the rest of the things we needed to finish our laundry room.  That turned into about 5 hours of “me” time.  And a new pair of shoes.

Ooops.  My feet wanted to make new friends so badly.  I couldn’t say no.

Good news is that our laundry room is 3 baskets and 2 doorknobs away from being finished…despite my day long detour :)

All that to be said, I sure am excited about this 4-day school week!!!  We’ll be teaching the ow/ou spelling patterns this week and don’t ask me why, but this is definitely one of my favorites to teach!  Last year, I took my kids on an in-school “flight” to celebrate.  They even got SOUr Patch Kids as a little in-flight snack ;)  We packed suitcases, took pictures, and everything!  We had a BLAST!  I’m looking forward to doing it all again this week with a few little tweaks here & there!  I included this fun little activity…and one of last year’s ow/ou craftivities…in my newest spelling pattern packet…The Out of Towners.

So excited about this week!!!  Lots to do before Easter!  And my little bit’s birthday is on Friday!!! How in the world will I have a seriously have a 3-year-old AND a four-year-old this time Friday?!?!?!  It goes by WAY too fast!!  Time to scour Pinterest for party favor ideas!!!!

Happy Sunday Funday, sweet friends!  Have a blessed week!

  9. That's what I look like when I go to my nephew's baseball game. Okay, not so much but that's what I look like on the inside. Some of us just don't like that sport very much. :)

  18. Your boys sure remind me of mine at that age. They are now about to be 10 and 8. I used to take a fold-up play city mat with the roads and some hot wheels. My youngest would spread it out in the grass and play. I also carried a tub of colored rice, measuring cups/spoons and funnels around in the back of my van. He loved that too. We only took it out to play on game days! The only downfall was that it attracted every kid at the ball park. A few wasn't bad, but it didn't really work for a big crowd. Glad you enjoyed your day!

I don't know what kind of favors you're looking for, but we did some adorable little mini-pinatas that could be fun.

  21. Yippee for ME time! Love love love the shoes! As Carrie Bradshaw would say, "Hello lover." I am 5'10 and mostly live in flats to avoid being a giraffe amazonian woman on stilts. I will have to live vicariously through you.
