Compound Cooks

Ummm…how many of y’all were able to take full advantage of Sonic’s ALL DAY Happy Hour today?!?!  Me! Me! Me!  Actually, one of the sweet girls on our team made a Sonic run for us early this morning and then I got a follow-up drink later on when one of my sweet mom’s surprised me with a drink!!  Needless to say, it was a great day!  I was a very happy, very CAFFEINATED teacher!

What goes better with caffeine than food?!?!  Today we were all COOKS!  Compound Cooks, that is.  {If you can’t tell by now, my mind is ALWAYS on food!  HA!}  Seriously though.  I’ve introduced compound words before this week, but now we’re finally digging deeper!  I introduced my little Compound Cook to the kids today and we talked about how similar compound words are to recipes.

image

A recipe is made up of DIFFERENT ingredients that when COMBINED together, it makes something brand new…just like compound words.  When two DIFFERENT words are COMBINED together, it makes a brand new word!  And where do Compound Cooks get their recipes?!?!  In Compound Cookbooks, of course!

I had my kids make their own recipes for a compound word of their choice today…we wore our chef hats and everything!  These are going into our classroom Compound Cookbook! I left my camera at home…and my phone died…so this is all I got to show ya!

We started on the cutest little Compound Cook craftivity today, but I have nothing to show for it.  I’ll have to remember my camera tomorrow so I can share…they’re turning out so stinkin’ cute!!!   And I can’t wait to share my newest little mini unit….complete with our little Compound Cook craftivity…

I’m absolutely BEAT right now.  I guess after all that caffeine, I’m crashin’ pretty hard!!  We just got back from t-ball practice and I’m waiting on Mr. Spouse to get here with the groceries so I can cook dinner.  In the meantime, it’s time for me to get these dirty little boys in the bathtub!!  Here’s to crashin’ hard and hittin’ the pillow early tonight :)

    3. Yes!! What version of Power Point do you have? That option wasn't available on 2007, but it is on 2010. You just go to format...click on picture/text effects....choose glow...and the rest is pretty straightforward! Hope this helps!!

  11. What kind of drinks do you get at Sonic? Are they just soda or something better? I've read online where people mention loving Sonic beverages, but I have NO IDEA what everyone is drinking! Am I missing out? Could it beat Diet Mountain Dew?
    Love your Chef!

  18. I can't wait to purchase the compound mini unit! So, so cute! I wanted to share with you a website I just found out about from our technology person yesterday. It is called classdojo.com. It is a great website for classroom management/behavior and not only that it is F-R-E-E....free!! It is interactive and you can even send your students behavior report via email through the program daily. I'm still learning and they are adding features all the time! Some suggestions made today by one of my team members is it would be great for helping keep up with students who have behavior modifications too. It tracks exactly what times the students behaviors are occurring also. I just thought I would share it with you since you are always sharing great ideas with us!

  26. Hi! My name is Tiffany Williams and I am a homeschooling mother of a 6 year old little girl. Both my daughter and I would LOVE it if you chose to give your freebie units to us so we can use them this summer and continue to learn. We do not have alot of money, so I have been extremely limited on the materials I purchase that she needs for her education. If you chose us as a recipient of your freebie units I would be extremely grateful and I guarantee that they will be put to good use! Thank you so much!!!

    My email address is homeschoolingkaylee@gmail.com.
