Hey sweet friends! Happy Saturday! Okay, so maybe notsomuch on the *happy* for me. The screen on my laptop decided to die, so I spent the morning taking her to get fixed only to learn that she needs to be sent off to be repaired! Shoo! I'm taking this as God's way of telling me to take a break from the computer, so my blogging and commenting will be very minimal the next few weeks. In the meantime, I'm trying to figure out a way to upload several new units I've been working on...just a few little goodies for February.

There is so much to love about February! We have Winter Fun Day at my school which is so much fun for the kiddos! It doesn't look like we will be sledding this year. On the 13th we will be celebrating the 100th day and then the following week is February break! I'm so excited about February!

It is funny you should ask what I love about February because yesterday after work I spent about 4 hours prepping ideas for February and I was so excited. My favorite part of February is our missions parade! I teach at a Christian School, and we have a big parade to celebrate the missionaries for our missions conference at our church. I'm super excited this year, because my 2nd graders have raised over $3,700 to give to them!! They have worked hard!

I love February because there are so many things to celebrate, Groundhogs day, Valentines day, 100th day, dental health, black history, etc. I also love that I can say, "Spring starts next month".

My favorite thing about February is the colors (pinks, purples, and red) and all the celebrations (birthdays- at least 7, including my husband; Groundhog Day; Valentine's Day; Presidents' Day; Leap Year). It's just a happy month, full of love and kindness.

February is special because it has lots of holidays and birthdays, super bowl, there's still a chance for the snow we haven't seen this winter, and spring is just around the corner! It's a transition month.

ReplyDeleteThis is my 1st offical post to a blog - I have just been blog stalking until now! My favortive part of February is that 1st graders can still write "Love" on a valentine to any boy or girl in the class and mean just that. No boyfriend/girlfriend, etc. Just palin old LOVE!

I love February because the days are growing longer and there's the promise of warmer weather in the air BUT you still can be hit by a huge snowstorm! :)
ReplyDeleteMy absolute favorite thing about February is Valentine's Day. My daughter, Annabelle (7), insists on homemaking her valentines. We've been doing it since she was two. No boxed things for this girl...WHICH. I. LOVE!!! We always have the best time trying to come up with something better and more creative than the previous year. We usually start on them in mid-January because we always have so many to make between school friends, 2 dance classes, and church friends. Lots of girl time. Though, both of my boys this year, 5 and 3, requested to make homemade cards. Of course, that might change if they see the boxed cards. I spotted some Lego puzzle cards that I'm pretty sure would rock their world! LOL!

I love, love, love teaching Black History Month in February. My students are always SO interested in learning about important people in history. I also L-O-V-E doing different activities all about friendship and kindness during the week of Valentine's Day!

I love celebrating the 100 th day of school and Valentines Day with my kindergarten class. We do a writing project about our friends and I love displaying the writing with tissue paper hearts on our bulletin board.

My favorite thing about the month of February is giving myself a pat on the back for all of the New Year's Resolutions that I have actually kept! (and hopefully will continue) For the resolutions I haven't kept...well I will try again! I also really enjoy seeing the progress that my first graders have made so far! I always say that February is the month in which they start developing into future second graders!

Each time you update, I think to myself, "When I grow up, I'm gonna be the kind of teacher Cara is...some day!!!". Anyway, the thing that I love about February is that it is chockful of learning opportunities. I swear, it's the shortest month, but it is packed with so many holidays, events, etc...you can barely fit it all in! Good luck with the computer. Now you'll have more time for the boys in your life!
