If you’ve been reading this little blog for a while, you might remember the hallway decorations in my school during Open House this year. I also spotlighted some of our school’s hallway décor at the beginning of the school year last year. Well, it’s that time of year again!!! Time for more back to school hallway decorations, bulletin boards, and themes!
Each grade level adopts a “theme” for the hallway. This isn’t necessarily how we theme our own classrooms, just a way for us to start the year as a team and design brag tags for our grade levels. Once we decide on a theme, our sweet grade level parents come up the week before school and decorate the halls.
First grade did a little half & half action this year…we tackled our own bulletin boards and then our sweet moms came in and added the stars :) We went with a space theme for the halls and LOVE the way it turned out!! “1st Grade is a BLAST!!!!”
Found this idea on Pinterest. I posted about it here: http://thefirstgradeparade.blogspot.com/2011/06/look-what-i-found.html
A few of the little details…
Jump rope {from the Dollar Tree of course!}
Tissue paper for a little 3D effect…
And these darling little plate covers…perfect touch!
Now let’s head on down to KINDERLAND :) I LOVE this hallway!! I mean, seriously…who doesn’t love Candyland?!
And my favorite little detail…the dang “gameboard spaces” running through the hall!
Let’s steer our ships toward 2nd grade!! This year, 2nd went for a pirate theme. LOVE.
Look at this little guy!! LOVE him! Those are real/fake feathers!! HA!!
And a little close up of the treasures…real beads!! Love that!!
Time to gear up for an Amazing Race in 3rd grade. What a FUN theme!!!!!
Each classroom took on a different continent.
4th grade went all out State Fair style. SO fun!
Things are really “rockin’ out” with the ROCKSTARS in 5th grade!!!
Finally, we’re “hangin’ out” with the kids in 6th grade this year!!! LOVE this!
This little wall is my favorite!!
The halls are all ready and we met our babies on Thursday night. Can’t wait to have a classroom full of firsties on Monday!!!!
These are some of the most amazing hallway displays and bulletin boards I have ever seen. Everyone at your school is awesome. How wonderful that grade level parents even participate!

First Grade is Fantabulous!
How in the hell-o (lol) do they get everything to stick to the walls? What is the secret...come on...spill it...we won't tell! : )
ReplyDeleteLOVE your pictures...as always!

Thanks y'all!!
ReplyDelete@Jaime...no big secret!! HA!! Everything sticks to the walls with STAPLES!!!!!
W-O-W!! I LOVE this! What CLEVER ideas and such detail! You really have some wonderful parents! How fun it would be to walk down those halls as a kid! Or, heck, even as an adult!...I'd love to! :)
ReplyDeleteWow! Love this! You must have an amazing faculty at your school. There is no way every teacher at my school would do this. How fun for the students though! Love it! Thanks for sharing. :)
ReplyDeleteUnbelievable!!! What a fun school to be at... a whole school of Cara Carrolls :)

I love this!! When I first started teaching 12 years ago we did things like this in our hallways. Now we have a lovely fire marshall that does not allow us to hang hardly anything on the walls. It makes our halls look a little boring now? Hopefully soon we will be able to paint murals.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun for all your kiddos! I thought your walls looked like bulletin boards. How cool! We have lockers lining our halls with bulletin boards above them. We put all the kids' work on them.
ReplyDeleteCool Halls!

I just love the spirit of your school! Seems like a wonderful place to work and learn!
ReplyDeleteOh. My. Word. When I grow up, I want to be a teacher at your school!! Or even a student for a day! Looks like so much parent involvment and fun! I hope the next school I teach at is like this, because the one I just left certainly did not make school this fun! Thanks for sharing, have a fantastic year :)
ReplyDeleteThis doesn't even seem real! Where do you teach and can I come?
ReplyDeleteThis is the most amazing display! I wish we could do this at our school because our parents would certainly help. But our school is "hurricane proof" and is cement block...you can't hang any displays without a glue gun or serious masking tape and it doesn't stay very well. Also our fire department would have a hay day! lol We can only have 20% of our walls covered and things that are hanging must be 18 inches from the wall. Thankfully our school is still beautiful because it is painted...I'll have to post pictures soon! Thanks for sharing! Have an awesome year!

how did you get them to stick? and how long did you all plan this? and is the one non creative person in your school?
ReplyDeleteAmazing!! I'd love to be one of the teachers, or even better one of the students at your school!! How fun :)
ReplyDeleteI think you need to give credit to your source. Many of those displays are from this website:

@midwaydancer...If you look back at this post from June 30th, (http://thefirstgradeparade.blogspot.com/2011/06/look-what-i-found.html) you will notice that I did credit the source for the Space bulletin boards :)
ReplyDeleteAs for the rest of the bulletin boards, I have NO control over any of that!! I only teach first grade :) The parents were responsible for decorating the hallways :) I'm sure they gathered their inspiration from a variety of sources :)
Thanks so much!!!
Oh my gosh, these are all INCREDIBLE! Your school looks gorgeous! I love how each grade has a theme like that...I've read about it from different teachers before but have never seen it in action. Thank you for showing a glimpse of your school's creativity. I love how the rockets came out (that is one of my favorite pins!!). Good luck on Monday!

WOW!! I cannot believe that your school went all out on decorating your hallways. It is so amazing!!!
ReplyDeleteI want to work at your school and on your team! What an awesome place to go each day.
ReplyDeleteWow! What an awesome school! I wish our hallways could be transformed that way and that everyone would get on board with the themes!
ReplyDeleteIt's an amazing array of creativity and dedication!
ReplyDeleteI love it! Would love to show u our boards as well.
Love this!
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome! I wish we could do this in our district. The Fire Marshall has soooo many rules and one of ours is nothing 3d on the wall. How to squash a teacher's creativity...on the other hand the kiddos won't ever catch on fire! ;:
